Week 36 April 28, 2013

4 weeks or less to go!

This was a busy week, but seemingly productive.  We bought the car seat and stroller, we got the glider assembled and in the nursery, I got all of Avery’s clothes washed and ready to go, and we saw Dr. W. again.  Our hospital bags aren’t actually packed in a bag, but I have all of my stuff laid out, ready to be thrown into a bag quickly if need be.  I had a baby shower at work, which resulted in even more diapers and several Target gift cards…which we plan to use this upcoming week for a few more last-minute things.  All in all though, if Avery decided to come today, I think we’d be ready!

Week 36

How far along in this pic + the Date: 36 Weeks, 1 Day — April 24th, 2013
Total weight gain/loss: Up 31-2 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Unneeded response here.
Stretch Marks? Nope.
Sleep: I have been craving naps EVERY day…but by the time I get home, there’s not enough time.
Best moment this week: Probably my work baby shower.  It made me realize how wonderful the people I teach with are.
Miss Anything? Not having the urge to cry every single time there is something that comes up that I am unable to do!
Movement: Still a lot.  She especially likes to respond to Adam talking to her.
Food cravings: Ice cream and strawberries.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Gender: Avery girl, as Adam calls her.
Labor Signs: Lot’s of pressure/super tight belly.  Plus I’m now at 1 cm and 50% effaced.
Belly Button in or out? Flat as can be.
Wedding rings on or off? Mostly off.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional, but happy and excited too.
Looking forward to: Finishing another week of school–particularly EOC testing, getting my hair  done one last time before the baby arrives, book club, our last baby class, and the next weekly dr. visit to see how I’m progressing!

A few Random Pictures from the last few weeks…

1.3 Generations3…almost 4 generations.  My Mom and Nannie.

Mari and I.  I’m sooo lucky to have the best friend a girl could ask for.  I can’t wait for Avery to meet and play with Mari’s girls, Eleanor and Eve.

Work2 Work1

Tina and I at our joint work baby shower.  My work bestie is due about a month after me.  It has been a lot of fun sharing this whole pregnancy roller coaster experience with her.   Plus we are both having girls.

5 weeks or less to go!

This has been the first week that I am really starting to feel like Avery could make her appearance ANY time.  I know that full-term is at 37 weeks…so as I write this, I’m about one week away from that, but still, I’m just starting to get that feeling that we don’t have much more time until she arrives.

The past few days I’ve started experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions, which is probably the main reason I’m feeling like the time is near.  My belly has been getting really tight and a little crampy.  When this happens walking at even a normal pace is impossible!  This has happened on the treadmill too, which makes me feel ridiculous at the gym, because I will have to lower my speed to almost standing still.  However, I’m still trying to get myself there several times a week, no way I’m going to make it to 40 miles this month though.  :(

I also went to my first weekly Dr.’s visit where I get checked each time.  I’m not dilated or effaced yet, but Dr. W. said my cervix was “soft.”  The last day of school is May 16th and she said she doubted I would make it all the way there.  With those words, I’ve been working as hard as I possibly can at school to get things planned until the last day, and I’ve been bringing stuff home to grade to try to stay on top of things (which I despise, as I’ve not had to do this since my first or second year of teaching).  It will all be worth it though if Baby Avery does come early.

Week 35

How far along in this pic + the Date: 35 Weeks, 1 Day — April 17th, 2013
Total weight gain/loss: Up 30 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Um yes.  I now feel GINORMOUS!  I’m uncomfortable all the time and am almost to the point that I don’t even care what I wear to work.  I am tempted every day to put on sweatpants/yoga pants and go to school just like that…ready to defend myself if a principal attempts to say anything about it.  Haha.  This will never happen, but I can dream.  :)
Stretch Marks? Still no, though I’m amazed!  I don’t see how it’s possible to have this big of a belly and still have normal skin covering it.
Sleep: Not great, but I’m working on adjusting to the new challenges of sleeping with such a heavy belly.  I wake up a lot, but have been falling back asleep fairly quickly, so I can deal with that.
Best moment this week: Having Dr. W. tell me that it wouldn’t be much longer until our baby girl is here!
Miss Anything? Too many things to name at this point.  But I’m trying to remember that it will all be worth it in the end.
Movement: Still a lot, but it’s becoming obvious that she is running out of room, so the movements are different than they have been.
Food cravings: I always love milk, but it’s been especially calling to me this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Gender: Avery girl, as Adam calls her.
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks…if those count.
Belly Button in or out? Flat as can be.
Wedding rings on or off? Depends on the weather outside.  The colder days this week I was able to wear my ring.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional this week.
Looking forward to: Buying some of the last few crucial things we need this week.  A car seat is at the top of the list…and hopefully the glider for the nursery, which we still haven’t gotten.

*I also loved that late last night after Adam got home from Columbia, having been away all day Friday and Saturday from me, and with little movement all evening from the Baby, he came in and put his head on my belly and starting talking to her…she immediately started responding by moving/kicking right into his cheek.  She missed him just like I had.  *

6 weeks or less to go!

Another week down.  Another week closer to meeting baby Avery.

On Friday at work we had a staff breakfast, and our lovely principal decided to have all the pregnant teachers in the building come to the front and line up, as well as turn to the side, just like we were criminals.  Out of the other five women I hands down won the contest of having the biggest belly.  I am the next one due, so it was only fitting that I would win…but still not quite how I had pictured starting my day.  Haha.

Adam and I made a day-trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas yesterday to meet his Aunt Colleen and Uncle Dick, his godparents, as well as his first cousin Jeff, his wife, and their three kiddos who ranged in age from 5-9.  It was the first time I had ever met any of them, and the first time in quite a while Adam had seen them.  It was a really great day and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.  I loved getting the chance to meet more of his family!

Week 34

How far along in this pic + the Date: 34 Weeks, 1 Day — April 10th, 2013
Total weight gain/loss: Up 29 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Have discovered a few of Adam’s large T-shirts in the closet that are actually too short now to cover my belly.  It seems crazy to think about my belly still growing for another month!
Stretch Marks? Still no.
Sleep: The last two nights of sleep have been terrible.  I cannot seem to find a comfortable spot where the weight of my belly doesn’t hurt when I lay on my side, and sleeping on my back does not feel great either.  Hoping this trend does not continue!
Best moment this week: Spending the day with Adam yesterday.
Miss Anything? Walking quickly!  I’m always a speed-walker, but certain days lately that is just not possible.  Baby girl seems to push down and make it really difficult to walk fast.
Food cravings: I’ve had ice cream quite a few times this last week, so even that craving his passed…at least for a week, maybe two.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Onions, capers, and olives.
Gender: Avery girl, as Adam calls her.
Belly Button in or out? Flat as can be.
Wedding rings on or off? Off.  Backup ring on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, but a little grumpy at times.
Looking forward to: Spending what little bit of time I can with Adam around his busy schedule this week, and probably watching a few chick-flicks this weekend while he is Columbia at state math contest.

7 weeks or less to go!

This past week seemed really busy!  We had our first childbirth class on Wednesday…it lasted 2.5 hours and we still have four more weeks of it left.  Neither of us were very impressed, as our instructor rambled on and on and was not organized in the least about the things she presented/talked about.  This does not bode well for two teachers!  Needless to say, neither of us are really looking forward to the next class.  :(

We also had another doctor’s visit, and finally got to see our actual doctor, Dr. W.  It had been a while since she wasn’t busy delivering babies at the time of our appointment.  Everything is going perfectly so far!

The weekend flew by with my wonderful, fantastic baby shower on Saturday   Mari knows me so well and did an excellent job getting it all organized.  Look for an upcoming post with pictures of that.  Just not today.  Adam had a great day too…golfing and fishing with my Dad.  Sunday I spent the day cleaning the house and getting more things organized in the nursery.  Adam put every gift we received together, so that I didn’t have too.  Our house is now really starting to look like a baby lives there!

Week 33

How far along in this pic + the Date: 33 Weeks, 1 Day — April 3rd, 2013  (BTW, I have no idea what a durian fruit is!)
Total weight gain/loss: Up 28 pounds.  After my horrible experience with that awful nurse lady two weeks, I actually lost a pound since that appointment, and Dr. W. made me feel so much better about my weight gain, telling me that I am at the ideal spot she would want me at!!
Maternity clothes? I’m starting to get tired of wearing the same couple pairs of pants for work, but I’m not about to buy anything else at this point.
Stretch Marks? Still no.
Sleep: It seems to be either really good, or really bad.
Best moment this week: Getting to celebrate baby girl with wonderful friends and family.
Miss Anything? Not being so ridiculously hot when I know my normal self would either be comfortable or even cold.
Food cravings: Still chocolate and ice cream as the temperature has been increasing.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Onions and their smell are still gross.
Gender: Girl.  More specifically………Avery.  We’ve been decided on this name for quite a while, but are finally starting to tell people.  The middle name is still a slight work in progress.
Belly Button in or out? Flat as can be.
Wedding rings on or off? It depends on the day.  There were several days this week that it was only in the 40’s outside, so I was able to wear my wedding ring on those days.  Today as I type, it’s 73 outside and the heat has been on in my classroom all day, and I’m on the third floor.  It was so hot, I’m pretty sure my wedding ring would be cutting off my circulation!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional a lot.  Sorry Adam.
Looking forward to: Only having to be with teenagers three days this week, as I have meetings on two of the other days.  Also, it’s looking like we may go to Eureka Springs this weekend to see some of Adam’s family that I have never met!

8 weeks or less to go!

Another week closer to getting to meet our little girl.  The craziest part is now being able to say that she will be here NEXT month.  I still can’t believe it.  I didn’t get around to posting yesterday because we were busy spending Easter in Bolivar and entertaining guests on Friday/Saturday.  They have two kids, one being 10 months old, so we got a little taste of what’s to come.

Yesterday we went to my parents for church; then Dad, Adam, and I spent the afternoon on the lake fishin’ for some crappie….although the crappie were not cooperative.  Adam and Dad had a little luck with the bass though, Adam being the big winner of the day who caught enough that I lost count.  That could have to do with the fact that I got a little nap in while we were out there.  :)  Mom then had a big shrimp boil feast ready for us when we got back.  All in all it was a great weekend…would have been even better had I had off Friday and Monday like Adam though!!

Week 32

How far along in this pic + the Date: 32 Weeks, 1 Day — March 27th, 2013
Total weight gain/loss: Around 30 lbs.  I feel like my belly looks HUGE in this weeks picture!
Maternity clothes? As the weather is getting warmer, the sweaters and long-sleeve things I have are seeming to be ridiculously hot.  I now very much feel for those women who are very pregnant throughout the summer.  It must be miserable.
Stretch Marks? Still no.
Sleep: Still hit or miss.  Some nights it’s a breeze to sleep, others are more difficult.
Best moment this week: Adam felt her move on both sides of my belly at the same time.  Proof that she is getting really big/long.  Plus, I just love it any time he feels her move.
Miss Anything? Everything having to do with bending over to pick things up, getting in and out of vehicles, or in and out of bed or furniture, etc.
Food cravings: Still chocolate.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope…even onions are quite as bad as they were.
Gender: Girl.
Belly Button in or out? Flat.
Wedding rings on or off? Off by choice, but I still don’t like it.  :(  Just this week, though my wedding ring still fits, I’ve been paranoid about how tight it was getting when it’s been 50+ degrees outside…so I have taken it off and switched over to the new “ginormous” size 6 ring I bought.  Haha.  My wedding ring is a size 4.5, so actually the 6 is still a little loose.  I’m hoping that soon after the birth I’ll be able to put my regular ring back on.  I miss it already and it’s only been a few days.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty sure I’ve been grumpier this week as I’m getting more and more uncomfortable.
Looking forward to: My baby shower on Saturday!  I’m crossing my fingers for lot’s of the necessities that I still need for our baby girl.  Cute clothes are fun, but being the practical person that I am I’m hoping for more things that we truly need.  Also really excited to see several friends and family members who I don’t get to see very often!!

9 weeks or less to go!

Let’s see, this week I had a great time at book club, finally got around to picking out some much needed glasses (the pair I currently have are about 7 years old), and we got everything hung up on the walls of the nursery.  Now we still need to completely clean out the closet and get prepped for all of the babies stuff that will go in there.  As of right now, that is pretty much non-existent “stuff,” seeing as we still haven’t really bought anything.  Does that make us procrastinators?  As long as we have most of the essentials around a month in advance, then I think I will feel okay about that.  So we still have a few more weeks to get all of that accomplished!  Although I’m sure April 21st will get here pretty quickly.

Week 31

How far along in this pic + the Date: 31 Weeks, 1 Day — March 20th, 2013  (The belly is blocking some of the words!)
Total weight gain/loss: This was somewhat of a sore subject this week with the lovely nurse practitioner I got to see instead of my actual doctor.  Apparently I’m up about 29 pounds…which according to her was way too much.  The jeans I have on in the picture are still a size 4 maternity pant.  Not to mention I walked 40 miles on the treadmill in February and have walked about 30 so far this month.  So as I’ve had most of the week to think about it…that lady can kiss my you know what.  :)  She only dreams of wearing a size 4 or a 6 or even an 8 for that matter!
Maternity clothes? I’m very thankful for my husband and his wardrobe this week!  I’ve got plenty of cute things to wear to work, but as far as lounging clothes go, I’ve pretty much got nothing that still fits, and have been stubborn about spending money on things that I know I will only wear at home.  None of my normal T’s fit comfortably over my belly, so I have been lucky to have access to a multitude of men’s Large T-shirts and hoodies.  And today I even have on a pair of his sweats.  Even rolled once, they are still ginormous on me.  But boy are they comfortable!
Stretch Marks? Still no.
Sleep: I’m starting to feel again like I can’t get enough.
Best moment this week: Several good talks with my bestest friend Mari…who also has a blog with tons of super cute stories and pictures of her adorable girls.  If you have a free second, you should definitely check it out at CustoMari Living.
Miss Anything? Having normal, controlled emotions.
Food cravings: Still chocolate.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing comes to mind.
Gender: Girl.
Belly Button in or out? Flat.
Wedding rings on or off? On..but tight.  I just ordered a larger ring from QVC that I plan on wearing until the end.  I’m paranoid my ring might get stuck and I would have to have it cut off my finger.  (This has happened to my Mom, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have even thought of that.)
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional.
Looking forward to: A mostly non-busy week.

WEEK 30!?!?!  That just doesn’t seem possible!  If Baby E were to come early, she could be born in a 30-something week.  Thus we are getting really close.  And as someone who likes to plan everything, it is getting extremely difficult for me to just wait and have no idea when this little lady will arrive!  So, I started Googling a few things, and here is what I came across:

For the sake of my blog, I found a really cheesy website that asked a bunch of random, ridiculous questions that had nothing to do with my pregnancy or health info.  If you are curious, you can visit it here: Madame Zaritska Predicts your Birth Experience   This is what it said…

“The day you deliver, outside will be dark. Your baby will arrive in the late afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 16 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 10 pounds, 1 ounces, and will be 19,19-1/2 inches long. This child will have dark green eyes and barely their brown hair.”

I really hope this baby doesn’t weigh 10 pounds!!!  It is interesting though that it said she will be a girl, because I did not give the website that information.

Me being the mathy, statistics-loving person that I am, I found a website that allowed you to input all of your personal data…i.e. boy/girl, my age, 1st/2nd/3rd pregnancy, etc. and it gave you the numbers for when you can expect your baby based on actual DATA.  This is the type of website I actually like!  So, here’s the scoop:

7% chance of being born between 4/30 and 5/6  (37 weeks)

18% chance of being born between 5/7 and 5/13  (38 weeks)

34% chance of being born between 5/14 and 5/20  (39 weeks)

22% chance of being born between 5/21 and 5/27  (40 weeks)

9% chance of being born between 5/28 and 6/3  (41 weeks)

Anyone have their own predictions?

How far along in this pic + the Date: 30 Weeks, 1 Day — March 13th, 2013  (This is my no  make-up, hair not fixed, just woke up, lounging look.  It was the day to take the pic and after getting home from Memphis, I was not leaving the house!  Don’t judge.)
Total weight gain/loss: 23?   No idea.  Will get weighed this week at the Dr.
Maternity clothes? Ha!
Stretch Marks? Still no.
Sleep: Sleep has been good other than the fact that my bladder seems to be shrinking.  No more sleeping all the way through the night.
Best moments this week: A few days at home relaxing with Adam.  And getting to spend the day with my parents yesterday.
Miss Anything? Fixing myself a turkey sandwich straight from the fridge.  Or going to some of our fav places like Jimmy John’s or Schlotsky’s for a meal.
Movement: I am to the point now that I will be worried if it’s been more than 2 hours and I haven’t felt her.
Food cravings: Chocolate…got an Andy’s James Brown Funky Jackhammer yesterday, so that should tie me over for a few days!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing comes to mind.
Gender: Girl.
Belly Button in or out? Flat.
Wedding rings on or off? On..with the warmer days though it gets really tight.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty happy, but feeling ginormous.
Looking forward to: Book club this week.

*Now it’s NAP time… especially since my husband is already there.  Church, grocery store, and waffles and bacon for lunch.  I’m wiped out.  P.S. Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!!!*
