The NURSERY! April 21, 2013

I’ve been anxious and excited to put up pictures of the nursery for quit some time now…it’s still a little messy, and I don’t have things completely organized the way that I want them.  However, the decorating is pretty much finished, so I broke down and finally took some pictures.  Here it is…Avery’s room!

The view from the doorway.  We still plan to put a glider/rocker in the middle.

The changing area.  All ready for Daddy.  ;)

Project #1:  I had seen these all over Pinterest and Etsy…where you could buy one for $35 and up.  No way was I doing that!  I painted the letter to match our one pink wall and covered a canvas in the fun Chevron material that matched the rest of decor.  I think it turned out cute, especially considering it seemed way too easy to have paid more than $10 for and some of my time to make.

This was the wall I drove Adam crazy over, because it took me forever to get everything on it just the way I wanted…since he was the one who got to hang it all for me. He also repainted all of the walls.

This part of the nursery goes 100% to Avery’s grandparents and great-grandparents.  The beautiful crib and changing table from Grandma and Grandpa Erickson.  The bedding set from Granny and Grand Dad Shuler, and the the mobile from Great-Nannie and Pappaw.

Project #2-5:  Here are close-ups of the decorations on the wall.  Most came from Hobby Lobby, then I took to painting 4 of them myself to make them the color and style I wanted, as well as ripping off the backing of two of them to turn them into frames for the wall.

Nursery10This is the clutter I described at the beginning of the post.  None of this will still be sitting on top of the dresser…but I’m still working on getting things organized the way I want.  So ignore all of that if possible.

Project #6:  I hand-painted all of this one on a canvas.  I saw this idea on Pinterest as well, and thought I could modify it to make it my own.  It might have been more fun to paint, than how it turned out.  Nonetheless, it matches perfectly and was cheaper than buying a painting of this size.

Project #7: This is probably my favorite item I made in terms of how it turned out.  I don’t think the picture does it justice.  I again, painted a canvas, then created the flower design with scrapbook paper, and finished it off with modge-podge.  This one also took me longer than any of the others, but was very worth it.  I love it!

Last picture for today.  This little corner could still use a little something, but I haven’t decided what that might be.  (P.S.  I mod-podged the light switch plate.)

I meant to take a picture of the bassinet in our room (created by Great-Grandpa Erickson), where Avery will be sleeping for the first few weeks, but I forgot.  Now I will probably wait to take that picture when she is actually in it! :)

Week 25 February 10, 2013

Hmm…what happened this week?  Quite a lot.  The biggest accomplishment was that Adam and I registered for baby gifts.  This task was EXHAUSTING!  I think we spent about 4 1/2 hours at Babies R’ Us, we took a break for lunch, then went to Target.  By the time we got to Target, we were both burned out, ready to be done, and could barely process what we were doing.  I think we there only an hour and registered for almost as many items.  Very few of which I could repeat back to you that we registered for.  Haha.  Oh well, I’m thrilled to be done with that task.

I also spent a few hours at Hobby Lobby buying some crafty things to make for the walls of the nursery.  I’m hoping to finish all of those projects today…then I will be ready to go back for more items to make, because I still don’t quite have enough to cover the walls the way that I want.

Baby Girl went to her first Ozark basketball game on Friday, Adam took me out for a delicious Italian dinner last night, and then he spent the rest of the evening watching one of his buddies bands play.  All in all, it was a great week!

I do not feel like I got much accomplished this week, but Adam sure did.  We went and bought the paint for the nursery on Thursday, and between Friday and Saturday Adam got the entire room painted all by himself.  The smell was too strong for me to help…which I hated.  Firstly because I felt completely useless the entire time.  I laid around while he worked for hours getting it done.  And secondly because I actually enjoy painting.  Our crib and changing table also arrived and he had those put together the night they arrived.  On top of all that, he has smoked 7 lbs of pork and is in the process of smoking 15 lbs of ribs for the Super Bowl party we are going to tonight.  I just finished making Hot Fudge Cream Cheese Bars to take…not quite as time-consuming.  They look extremely delicious just out of the oven, so if interested, you can find the recipe here:

I love you Adam!  You have no idea how thankful I am for all that you do.  :)

Week 24

How far along in this pic + the Date: 24 Weeks, 1 Day — January 30th, 2013  (Disclaimer: I really do not like this pic, but I was running late for school and didn’t have time to take more.  I did get lots of compliments on the dress at work though.)
Total weight gain/loss: After going to the Dr. this week I have gained a total of 18 pounds, which is right on target for 6 months.
Maternity clothes? I have GOT to go and buy some cheap workout shirts.  I have no shirts that fit to wear to the gym and I feel ridiculous in Adam’s gigantic t-shirts that have room for my belly, but are ginormous everywhere else.
Sleep: Un-memorable this week…other than that it is noticeably different from pre-pregnancy sleep.
Best moment this week: Scheduling our remaining Dr. visits and realizing that there really aren’t that many left, especially considering we only have one more monthly amount before we go to every two weeks and then to one!
Miss Anything? Tying my shows and getting out of bed like a normal person.
Movement: Any time I am lying around or even sitting for more than 30 minutes she is bound to be moving.  She has started kicking hard enough that I can actually see my stomach moving this week too.
Food cravings: Chocolate all the time for every meal…though I’m not letting this happen.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? In…but seemingly getting flatter by the day!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional again this week.
Looking forward to: Super Bowl party with friends tonight and hopefully a relaxing week with Adam.
