5 weeks or less to go!
This has been the first week that I am really starting to feel like Avery could make her appearance ANY time. I know that full-term is at 37 weeks…so as I write this, I’m about one week away from that, but still, I’m just starting to get that feeling that we don’t have much more time until she arrives.
The past few days I’ve started experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions, which is probably the main reason I’m feeling like the time is near. My belly has been getting really tight and a little crampy. When this happens walking at even a normal pace is impossible! This has happened on the treadmill too, which makes me feel ridiculous at the gym, because I will have to lower my speed to almost standing still. However, I’m still trying to get myself there several times a week, no way I’m going to make it to 40 miles this month though. :(
I also went to my first weekly Dr.’s visit where I get checked each time. I’m not dilated or effaced yet, but Dr. W. said my cervix was “soft.” The last day of school is May 16th and she said she doubted I would make it all the way there. With those words, I’ve been working as hard as I possibly can at school to get things planned until the last day, and I’ve been bringing stuff home to grade to try to stay on top of things (which I despise, as I’ve not had to do this since my first or second year of teaching). It will all be worth it though if Baby Avery does come early.
How far along in this pic + the Date: 35 Weeks, 1 Day — April 17th, 2013
Total weight gain/loss: Up 30 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Um yes. I now feel GINORMOUS! I’m uncomfortable all the time and am almost to the point that I don’t even care what I wear to work. I am tempted every day to put on sweatpants/yoga pants and go to school just like that…ready to defend myself if a principal attempts to say anything about it. Haha. This will never happen, but I can dream. :)
Stretch Marks? Still no, though I’m amazed! I don’t see how it’s possible to have this big of a belly and still have normal skin covering it.
Sleep: Not great, but I’m working on adjusting to the new challenges of sleeping with such a heavy belly. I wake up a lot, but have been falling back asleep fairly quickly, so I can deal with that.
Best moment this week: Having Dr. W. tell me that it wouldn’t be much longer until our baby girl is here!
Miss Anything? Too many things to name at this point. But I’m trying to remember that it will all be worth it in the end.
Movement: Still a lot, but it’s becoming obvious that she is running out of room, so the movements are different than they have been.
Food cravings: I always love milk, but it’s been especially calling to me this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Gender: Avery girl, as Adam calls her.
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks…if those count.
Belly Button in or out? Flat as can be.
Wedding rings on or off? Depends on the weather outside. The colder days this week I was able to wear my ring.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional this week.
Looking forward to: Buying some of the last few crucial things we need this week. A car seat is at the top of the list…and hopefully the glider for the nursery, which we still haven’t gotten.
*I also loved that late last night after Adam got home from Columbia, having been away all day Friday and Saturday from me, and with little movement all evening from the Baby, he came in and put his head on my belly and starting talking to her…she immediately started responding by moving/kicking right into his cheek. She missed him just like I had. *
